General Summary
Performs routine and MRI specialized advanced skill level procedures. Performs procedures to produce magnetic resonance (MR) images of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures. Performs duties as on call technologist, having the ability to perform MRI exams on all scanners within the organization. Trains new staff. Passed the MRI advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs MR imaging studies; obtains patient history; explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
- Functions at a specialized advanced level performing a minimum of two (2) advanced skills specialty exams (breast biopsy, prostate biopsy, cardiac imaging, spectroscopy) and/or able to perform MRI exams on all scanners within the organization.
- Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.
- Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
- Positions and transfers patients comfortably.
- Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices MRI safety procedures.
- Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- 4 years Required
Licenses:
- Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
- Registered Technologist-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - ARRT Upon Hire Required or
- Certified MRI Technologist - ARMRIT Upon Hire Required
Courses and Training:
- Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in MRI procedures; has passed the MR advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT. Upon Hire Required
